Patient Care
When you arrive at our office there are two questions that we want to answer:
#1, What is the cause of the problem?
#2 Can we help?
If after the initial evaluation Dr. Boyd feels that he can accept you as a patient he will work to help you reach your health care goals.
Symptoms: cause or effect? The vast majority of people go to a doctor to get their symptoms treated. They go in when they have a headache, backache, stomach upset or a multitude of other symptoms or when their symptoms become so painful or disabling that they finally say, "I have had enough and I am going to get this fixed". When they go to a doctor they want to have their complaint listened to, the condition diagnosed, and the symptom to go away.
Unfortunately many people fail to realize their symptoms are not the real problem. They do not understand that their symptoms are the result of a problem and not the cause. Ask yourself this - Is your backache or headache due to a lack of painkillers in your system?
In recent studies it was estimated that 100,000 people die and many more are injured each year in the hospital from adverse drug interactions. Yet millions of headache and back pain victims do just that; rely on prescription painkillers or over the counter remedies that bring only temporary relief and don't correct the underlying cause of the problem. This approach can delay the healing process, prolong pain, decrease health and lead to the inability to enjoy life. At Boyd Chiropractic Center the approach is to locate and treat the underlying cause of the problem and with proper chiropractic treatment get you back to health and your full active lifestyle with out all the pain, symptoms and side effects from medications.
Dr. Boyd says that the biggest reward that he gets in his office is working with patients that have chronic or difficult conditions. These are patients that have been to doctor after doctor, patients who have been through the medical mill and had the medical model of healthcare fail them. Of his recent cases one was a 13 year old boy that had had stomach pain, cramping, and digestive problems for over 2 years, in a matter of a few weeks his digestive complaints were gone by treating the cause of the problem and not just treating the symptoms. Another was a 45 year old gentleman who was an automobile accident victim whose arm had been numb ever since his accident who got the use back of his arm back. Another was a 68 year old lady who had lower back surgery which helped for a few months and then began to get worse to the point were she was having severe lower back pain and leg spasms. After a few weeks of treatment she is getting active again without the severe pain and spasms and without painkillers or muscle relaxants. These are just a few types chronic and difficult conditions that typically respond well to chiropractic care.
